Olivier Fonseca was born in February 1967 in Isère. He has always painted and sculpted all kinds of materials on all supports. Giving life to colour and matter is the common thread of his life. A chance encounter with raku and ceramics on the internet was a shock and an evidence. Ceramic artist graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Vallauris in 2012 (Grandjean school), he first took other paths. He discovers the contact with the clay that he has to stir and shape: it takes shape under his hand, but sometimes has the audacity to free itself. The passage to the kiln is also the moment when the fire in turn reveals new discoveries. He works with stoneware, earthenware and porcelain, on the plate, in modelling or on the wheel, and combines wood and wrought iron according to invention and necessity. He makes his own glazes, and inspired by their nuance and transparency, he gives his sculpture the final mark of his identity. Nature often inspires him: light and shadows, movement, the animal and vegetable world feed his creation. His universe is also filled with the abundance of life, business, daily life... "Everything that happens within reach of the eye is an opportunity to explore".
